I’m a bit confused by this article. Are you suggesting mental health problems don’t exist in non first world countries, or in the past? Is it just possible that there, and then, problems aren’t or weren’t well understood?
I also don’t understand why you’re suggesting at the end that people don’t take responsibility for their mental health. In my experience, plenty of people do.
Good for you that — presumably — you aren’t suffering mental health problems, but I think it’s a real shame you seem to be connecting it to weakness.
