Is A Single Beer An Indulgence?

Does one beer count as an indulgence? It might be pitiful, but that’s mine. Or, it was.

As I settled into my 30s staying in became the new going out. Saturday nights were spent on the sofa, watching Match Of The Day, with a single beer (maybe two, if I was feeling particularly indulgent). Usually something fancy(ish) and imported.

If I could, I would steer clear of the day’s football scores to make the highlights a surprise.

Generally, I don’t spend a lot of money on myself. I still wear some clothes I wore at university. My TV is second hand. My games console at least a generation behind, my phone is a cheap Chinese brand I’ve never heard of. Indulgences aren’t my thing.

But a nice beer on a Saturday night? That simple indulgence was enough for me.

Since having a daughter things have changed. That quiet beer is now a green tea.

No, it’s not as good.
